Environmental Policy
The Sage Gateshead is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our magnificent building. Our staff representative body, the Green Team, have led organisation-wide green initiatives, including: regular ‘no lift days’; introduction of communal recycling points in offices; promoting phone and web conferencing for meetings; using Fairtrade or local suppliers wherever possible; installing an electric car point; free Metro usage for ticket holders and using e-media to reduce printed materials.
We are proud to have been one of the first organisations to sign up for 10:10 pledging to cut our carbon emissions by 10% in a year, and to be the only venue in the North East to achieve the Julie’s Bicycle certification programme standard, Industry Green – acknowledging our environmentally responsible business practices.
We have made consistent reductions in energy consumption, our energy use is largely related to electricity – a Display Energy Certificate [LINK] confirms our comparative energy efficiency. In a partnership with other NewcastleGateshead cultural venues we share data and information through SMEasure aiding Oxford University’s research into organisational energy consumption, used to inform governmental policy, investment and programmes in the reduction of energy use and emissions.
We are committed to continually improving our green policies and are proud to share our aims and achievements. Our current Environmental Policy Statement.
