Heinrich Schiff has had to withdraw from this recital due to health issues.

Heinrich Schiff is suffering from problems with his shoulder. In spite of intense therapies he is unable to play the cello, but his conducting is unaffected. Instead, tonight there will be a solo recital by the Beethoven soloist – Francesco Piemontesi. Piemontesi is a BBC New Generation artist, and will be remembered for his thrilling performance of Liszt’s arrangement of Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ symphony in our Sunday Morning series last year.
